Title: Inline Picture attachments
Post by: Drewid on March 02, 2010, 03:15:56 PM
Hooray and Huzzah.  ;D ;D ;D  We can now position photo attachments inline thanks to a cool lil plugin.
It would be great if people could use this instead of using external sites to host picture files,  some of the older threads have externally linked pictures now missing, and it would be good to keep stuff for future bongofishes to see.

I've raised size limit for each attachment to 500k and you can have up to 4 8 16 per post.

Here's how it works:

1) Click "additional options"
2) browse for your picture file
3) hit "Insert attachment n " button
4) if you want to add another attachment, click on "more attachments"
5) *
6) Profit Post.

[attachment=1]

The attachments show up as thumbnails, and are expanded/shrunk by clicking on them,  this helps people with slower connections.
The attachments don't show up in preview, but only once posted.

Can you place the pictures inbetween text, or do they appear after all the text?

The picture appears wherever you want it to.

The magic button simply puts the BBCode [attachment=1] (or whatever number), in the text. the server then squirts a linked thumbnail in there as it serves the content.

You can even type it by hand instead, as long as the attachment is there.

If you upload 4 attachments then add only 2 tags then the spare images get listed at the end as previously.

The limit is reasonably generous, but I'm not sure what will happen if one of the images is oversize.

When you try to include something larger than 500kb, it gives an error and says the file is too big when you post it. Works good.
Can't the 4 photo limit be increased? I tend to upload more than 4 when I have multiple pictures to show.

Now set to 8 images per post.

Now set to 16.

Any more than that and you can make two posts.   :P
