Title: [SOLD] Intuos1 12x18 serial GD-1218-R modded to USB GD-1218-U for sale
Post by: Dragon on December 10, 2011, 06:57:24 PM
Update: This tablet has been sold.

I purchased a fully functional GD-1218-R with pen, new-looking mouse, and even its original box for about $190.  I found out I can't use it for my particular project so I'd like to sell it.  I've modified it to run off USB instead of Serial (details here (http://forum.bongofish.co.uk/index.php?topic=2059.msg16075)) and it works with the latest official Wacom drivers on Mac, PC, or Unix.  I've modified the firmware on the tablet's USB mod such that all intuos1 tools should work with it (though I could only test it thoroughly with the stylus and 4D mouse it comes with).

I'm willing to sell it to another modder for $133.19, the same base price I paid, plus $20 for the parts used to convert it to USB, plus whatever it costs to ship it (it cost $34.70 to ship to me).  Original ebay listing with pictures and description is here (http://www.ebay.com/itm/330648006120).

...just to be sure people reading this understands: This is a bargain. It is a big 12x18 inches Wacom tablet. Contrary to the ebay listing claim, it now works on all OSes (Windows/MacOSX/Linux) now that it is converted to USB.

Yes, that pen should work.  I'm not sure what the -00A means at the end of your model number, but according to this PDF (http://www.wacom-asia.com/aptky/607/pen.pdf), the GP-300E pen is the only pen that works with Intuos1 tablets.

Also this tablet will come with a pen and 4D mouse, unless you don't want those two items, in which case I'll keep them for spares and/or testing during WaxBee development with multiple tools.

Dragon, I'm interested do you still have it?. I live in chile so the shipping would probably be expensive...

Hi,

I actually do still have it.  Just got through with a house move so haven't had time to ebay it.  USPS says Priority Mail (6-10 business days) to Chile at 9lbs in 4x20x28" box would be $56.15.  That's using weight estimated with my bathroom scale, so they might decide it's actually 10 lbs which is $59.  That's also using the original Wacom box.  If you didn't want that box getting messed up in shipping, I'd have to put it inside another box and that seems to push it over the size limit for Priority Mail (I entered 5x21x29" and Priority Mail was no longer an option), in which case shipping is closer to $100 (depends on exactly how big the box ends up being).

If you want it, send me a private message with your address, how you'd like it shipped, and how you'd like to pay (ie Paypal).
