Do you mean building or modding or ???

I was wondering about turning my tablet into a portable device of some kind, using desktop components.
My laptop can't keep up any more  ;D.

That's just planning right now. I've got to get this place looking nicer first, it's shockingly bad at the moment. ;)

lol... perhaps a tiny little 1U rackmount chassis with the tablet mounted on top... ORRRR just use a laptop! Snap off the screen, mount your tablet on top, and somehow integrate your own keyboard :)

Although, begs the question, why not just buy a Tablet PC? The tablets in those are pretty much equivalent to the Graphire series.

You can intergrate bluetooth for the keyboard. Bluetooth is always the answer

Where's the fun in just buying something?  :D

Anyhow laptop components are expensive, and hard to upgrade.
Maybe a mini ATX size board? A nano size bluetooth keyboard?
Build a stand into the case somehow, something that fold over to protect the screen but folds back to stand it all on a table.

That's got me thinking..

I know, Build a convertable screen into your case lol, that would be sweet.  It folds out from your case, but that would be pretty heavy I think.

I'd make it new with a 12x9 tablet instead of the UD1212S - a 15" Laptop is huge without making it worse.

If you go slate style, you might be able to use a laptop screen if you can find an LVDS one, connecting straight to a mini-itx board.

Then it's just an optical drive, connectors to fit one are on mini-itx.com

2.5" HDD, big ones suck too much juice, and a battery (The hardest part)

I'd go slate, TBH. Convertible hinges are evil to make, and a laptop-only with that wacom would be a waste.
