Title: Laptop Screens
Post by: tba on March 12, 2007, 04:17:57 PM
I was just thinking how hard would it be to use a laptop screen?

Most I have looked at say the inverter is included, that means they accept AC current, its the dvi/vga interface that is the hurdle, anybody got some experience with this?  There is talk of 30 pin connectors but I'm not sure if they are standard sizes.

Some good deals out there if there are no obvious problems.

You can get driver boards for laptop screens using standard monitor inputs, but they are expensive.
Another option might be to use a miniITX board,  there are a couple that will drive a laptop screen directly, but that means building a miniPC.  Mini ITX usually don't take the fastest processors from what I've seen.

A LVDS controller is what your looking for, Ya3 was going to go this route before he got given a freebie HP 1503.
