Title: Tutorial Section.
Post by: alwayscraig on December 04, 2006, 03:08:57 AM
I understand that your build log was not a tutorial. I think it would be great training for anyone if people here could work on making tutorials. If I'm not mistaken I didn't see any kind of tutorial section. I think it would be cool too have like a "wip tutorial" section for people who are still working on finishing the torial so other people could go and contribute to the torial and a seperate section for finished tutorials. This section could also be used to make tutorials for stages in the building process or tutorials on steps Drewid took from the original build log. Ohh and under the topic posted "Whats this all about then?", it said we could post solutions for the issues on the initial design. I was wondering if it was okay to post suggestions for "improvements" or upgrades to the initial design, example: pen holder.

Ohh yeah and I know a lot of people want to make their own but are too scared to take the plunge and I think this tutorial section would relieve a lot of those fears.
yup thanks

Good idea. sort of a "don't be scared of handling boards, just do it like this" sort of thing.
I'll write a couple of things, if anyone else wants a go then PM me and we'll co-ordinate.

Obviously any improvements are welcome as well.

Hmmm... we could set up a wiki for this...

the problem with this is that there are a whole bunch of diffent kind of monitors and tablets - there's no single solution for them all.
but a general tutorial with some hints and help for those who have no idea what to do would be nice

i think about a tutorial structured like this:

  • preparation - tools and stuff you'll need
  • buy guide - tipps which monitors/tablets are good
  • first steps - like opening and how to handle these thins
  • reassemble - how to place it and what to care about
  • casing - some words about the case

yeah, that's it - fell free to add your comment about this... :P

I think both.

The general stuff is really useful, and not only for this project, so we should have that.  It also encourages people to try new ideas out which is always a good thing.

Once a specific design is proven to work a step through with specific components, cutting guides etc could be drawn up.

I know I should do a much simpler guide to mine without all the waffle and with more detail about sizes and stuff.
