1  Screen Tablet malarky / The Trading post / Re: I have 7 Digitizer II pads on: October 28, 2007, 06:14:01 PM
Update!!!

I'm ready to start shipping to those who expressed an interest - if they're still wanting!!

Sorry, I've been very busy (and playing portal.. Smiley)

I got boxes and started to cut them to fit ('scuse pics - crappy phone-cam):

..which is why my front room looks like a warehouse:

Each person gets a pad, power adapter, serial cable, puck and pen-rest. Three of you get pens too. W00t!

I'll be PM'ing the potential recipients with final costs, and details of my paypal account and, as long as it's all ticketty boo - I can start posting them.

Hi Guys - sorry if progress is a bit slow, I've had a busy week at work. Updates soon.

Hi everyone, sorry for the odd thread title.

I'm living in the Isle of Man y'see. I'm a Yorkshireman by birth but I've been here 16 years. Check my site:

http://www.gmanx.com

..to find out what I'm all about.

I don't know whether I have the space or the time to do one of these builds, but I'm keeping an old wacom digitizer just in case. I use an intuos3 widescreen for my own graphic scribblings - and I wouldn't really want to rip that apart. o_O

There are some awesome builds going on in here though.. Good luck to everyone!

Okay, I've just got back from the Post Office.

UK special next-day delivery = £9.25

Netherlands (2-3 days) = £24.10

US (two weeks) = £40.30

Australia airmail (8-12 days) =£48.50

Any extra weight due to packaging, I will cover any additional postage.

I've now just got to find boxes big and strong enough to pack them in (should have some info this afternoon).

So far - 5 are taken - so there's 2 left!

[UPDATE] 6 taken - 1 left (no pens left)

Of course - that's if everyone actually goes through, if there are any non-takers I'll put the tablets back in this thread.

I'd welcome any suggestions for payment options, but since I'm selling these on behalf of 'Island Studios' (a movie studio here on the Isle of Man) I'd ideally like a cheque payable to Island Studios. When I receive the cheque, I'll post out the tablet.... Unless anyone has a better idea?

I have a paypal account if people would rather I use that.

Either way we're going to have to get around the 'trust' issues implicit in such transactions.

No probs AndreZX, I'll add you to the list of overseas enquiries I'm making at the post office in the morning.

Cool!

I just checked with UK Royal Mail and postage for each tablet (2.5kg) is around £8.70 for recorded delivery - I'll confirm that once I get the first one wrapped and boxed up. I just have to find a source for boxes big enough to pack them in.

I'll get back to those requiring overseas postage as soon as I can get to a courier.

Sounds great, but I can't see the pictures... Sad

Cool! You should do a darker shot, so the eyes and scythe glow up more. Any plans for more Pratchett builds?
13  General Category / Can't stop building / Warhammer40K Bolter on: October 09, 2007, 12:32:51 PM

I made this for our local bookshop to add to it's warhammer window displays. I've always wanted one, and always really liked the bolter as seen in the board game 'Space Crusade' so modelled mine on that - with the blade on the front.

Here's how it went together:

I was lucky enough to find a Spas12 (shotgun) BBgun which had a really big grip which I could use - necessary for warhammer since everything seems a little larger than life. Smiley

That saved me a lot of modelling headaches. The rest is card tubes and architects foamboard, 5mm and 12mm thick.

Here's the basic shape with the magazine:

..I added foil over some sections and used the widened foregrip from the shotgun, using car-filler to sculpt over the gap.

Next was decoration, and the box front from a 'pirates' megablocks set.

Then a basic coat of black spray paint.

... next the best bit - finishing and weathering.

..and after all that, a nice game of Zombies!!! (see final pic).

Model number is UD-1212-R.

Here they are.

I've brought them all home to test each lot of pad/pen/cables to group together complete sets. Some are really grubby, so I'll have to get my marigolds out. Sad
15  Screen Tablet malarky / The Trading post / Re: I have 7 Digitizer II pads on: October 08, 2007, 09:27:33 PM
Yes!

£25 for pad and pen, £15 for just the pad. This includes the power adapter and serial cables but not postage - which I'll have to figure out. There are three pens, but I'll have to check each one, and each pad, to make sure they're functional.

Spare pens are available from Wacom US I think, and coolgraphicstuff

I'll post again (probably tomorrow) with details and photos of each pad - rated best to worst according to condition and 'completeness'.

These pads are Old Skool digitizer II models, serial port based and powered by an adapter with a two-pin plug on the end.
