Thanks Monarch, that does really help.  It looks like my pen is for an Intuos 1.  Sad  I'd love to find a UP pen, but I can't find any reasonable priced ones here in Canada yet.

Yeah, it's possible it is the wrong pen.  It looks alright, but then again the pens are all pretty similar.  Unfortunately they don't put any part numbers on the pens.

I have a friend I might see in a few weeks with a TabletPC pen, which I hear might work.  So I would be able to borrow it to test.

Thanks

Just got my UD-1212-R.  The thing is larger than I pictured it, but it makes sense, it is 12x12 after all!

Anyways, it powers up fine, orange light comes on, but does not recognize the pen.  Using a wacom diagnostic, it connects to the tablet, and seems to be listening for activity, but sees nothing.

Is the orange light supposed to change green when connected correctly? Or just when the pen is touching like on the graphire?

It is just staying solid orange.  I'm just trying to narrow down if it is the pen that is broken, or the tablet.  Unfortunately I don't have another pen to test with. Sad

I can't find any detail on the MacBook Pro's lighting.  Everyone seems to say that the color gamut is better on the LED backlit ones, would that mean an RGB lighting, instead of just white's?

I can definitely say that my ipod touch must just be white LEDs though, since there is so little room in there, and on it's brightest setting has a really high color temperature, the white areas are blueish.

I'm pretty sure the MacBook also has an LED backlight.  I remember people last year talking about the increase in battery life because of it.

And according to my ipod touch, boy can those LEDs light up a room.  I may just have to go ahead and try for an LED lit screen right away, instead of being a backup plan when I start breaking things.

Tempting...

Nice build.  The LED lighting is quite impressive, that may just be an option when I eventually get things together for my build if I end up with jitters or heat issues.

Worked retail at a small computer store for a few years while in school.  Lots of fun stories about stupid customers, but karma finally came back to bite us.  We had three of us working on a computer off and on over a few hours.  Customer brought it in because it suddenly wouldn't start up anymore. We just could not figure out why the drive wouldn't boot, it worked in our test machine, but when we put the drive back in the customers it wouldn't boot up.

We had called the customer to come back and pick it up because we couldn't fix it, and just as he was taking it off the counter I noticed there was a floppy disk in his drive.  Roll Eyes  Turns out it booted fine after that, at least we both ended up looking stupid. Smiley
8  General Category / Who are you? a.k.a WHY CAN'T I POST? / Well, hi there! on: January 09, 2008, 12:59:25 AM
Can't seem to post a new topic yet so I'll reply here.  I swear I'm not a spam-bot! Smiley  Just signed up as I'm the latest victim to be lured in by cheap Cintiqs.  Currently just watching auctions and such to grab myself some cheap parts, I'll probably be getting going on something in a month or so.

Thanks to everyone who's posted here already, it is very helpful.
