1  Screen Tablet malarky / Heyaaaalpppp / 12 x 18 Build help on: August 29, 2011, 06:22:51 PM
So I'm a huge geek, and I've built my own computers and have handled electronics before, but this would by far be my most advanced undertaking.  It seems like a great idea though!

I know that I could get the package from tabletmod, but it seems pretty expensive, and if at all possible, I'd love to try to do a 12 x 18 build.

I don't have any of the parts yet, so I'm not locked into any one tablet or monitor, but I'd like as few surprises as possible once I get this thing open.  I'm also pretty poor, so I'm scared of wasting money on a monitor that won't work.

First, I see a couple tablets on Ebay that are Intuos 2.  One is serial and one is USB.  They both say that they're used, but they work.  They're about $150-250.  Can these be used?  Is there a major difference between the Intuos 2 and the 3 or 4?

Second, is there any monitor that's confirmed working with minimum modification for the 12 x 18 tablets?  What criteria would make a monitor a good candidate?  I can follow instructions really well, but I'm afraid of when it comes to having to make a decision on my own because I have some issue that hasn't been encountered yet.  I've never soldered or dremeled anything before, and while I think I can do it, I'd like to rely on it as minimally as possible.

I'm really nervous, but I think I can do this.  I just want to get a little more information before I hit that purchase button.  I'm excited at being able to have something really functional that I built by myself, but some reassuring hugs would be greatly appreciated Smiley

Hello, I'm new, really intrigued by this idea but I'm going to need a lot of help.
