1  Screen Tablet malarky / The Trading post / Wanted: Wacom intuos4 xl plastic case (outer shell) on: March 15, 2012, 07:04:08 AM
Anyone still have their plastic case intact after their project?  I want one (both front and back) for a reasonable price.

Preferably from within the US. (shipping)
2  Screen Tablet malarky / Design issues / Aluminum Frame on: February 14, 2012, 08:56:55 AM
I read on one of the thread in this forum that the metal backing behind the wacom sensor board suppose to help boost the signal.
I also read in another thread that Wacom claim the metal frame cause the jitter in their cintiq.

Does anyone know which is which?

I post similar question in the 'help' forum, but didn't get any answer.  Maybe I just framed the question wrong.

I'm thinking about using aluminum sheet for the back plate of the container.  I want to put the tablet and the lcd on top of this aluminum siding sheet.  I probably cover the top with plexiglas.

Will the aluminum sheet cause problem with the signal?

So, anyone have an idea?

Do you know if aluminum case will cause interference with the sensor board?

I have been looking around this  forum and the internet in general.  What I found is that the casing material used in these DIY are either wood or plexiglas.

I also notice that remove the metallic pane behind the lcd is a must.

Here's my question.  Is it feasible to use aluminum as casing material?  Have anyone tried it, or thought about it?  Will it cause interference with the sensor board? (is it the same material as the metal pane in the monitor).

If anyone tried it, what was the result?

I'm asking because I'm thinking about harvesting an old desktop tower case.  The tablet I'm trying to tackle is an Intuos 4XL.  I got it used for $450.

After some measurement, I think a 23 to 24 inch screen should work.  I want to maximize usable space.
