Didn't put this in the monitors forum, cuz this wouldn't really be feasible for a build. It is, however, really friggin cool.

Cool! Looks like Cinerama®!   Grin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinerama  I actually saw a Cinerama® movie in the 70's.  It was wide if nothing else.

I'd be curious to see it in person.  I haven't seen a rear projection display that was as sharp as a regular monitor surface.

Yeah, in practice this model seems to suffer. I really hope the concept is embraced and developed, though. And they did say that those seams would be gone on the production model.

In theory, wouldn't it be possible to create curved LCD screens? Especially with LED backlights as opposed to traditional CCFLs. I don't see why that wouldn't work. And a screen curved in 2 dimensions (around the x-axis as well as the y-axis) could make sure that the users' eyes view all of the screen from the same angle, as opposed to current LCD screens, where you're looking up at the top of the display and down at the bottom.

Right now it looks fairly primitive, but it could just be the first of the wave. Here's hoping.  Grin

You could make a curved LCD, but how much it would cost, who knows?
OLED is easier being flexible anyhow.

OLED may be more expensive, but it sure is sexy.
