We had something of a problem with spam for a while, both in topics and (more annoyingly) as PMs.
It's a problem of balance, do we put in an extra layer of security, probably wait for Mod approval on registering, or for the first few posts, or come up with some other scheme?

So we came up with another scheme.

When you register you are put into the membergroup "newbie".
The newbie can reply to an existing thread, and can send 1 personal message, (the minimum I can make it).
Once the newbie makes 1 reply they are upgraded to "new poster" and can reply as much as they like and can make their own topics.

Lets see how this new scheme works out.
