From a more practical/ergonomical point of view, what would be the best place to let all the cables come out of the tiq?

Regular monitors usually have the cables coming out of the screen on the bottom end, pointing down, but I can imagine having the tiq on your lap, drawing your drawings, in which case it's not that comfortable having cables for the vga, power and usb cramming into ones more sensitive parts. It's also not as economical length wise, as you normally don't sit on top of your computer.

Pictures of the cintiq 21ux shows one cable coming out of the middle of the back, but that prevents it from laying flat on a table. Though it looks like it has a slot to divert the cable to the top.

So if you have a finished build, where does your cable point to, and how do you like it?
And if you're like me, and are nowhere near completion, and don't have your opinion effected by love of your tiq yet, what would seem the best option?

If I had a choice of where to put my cables, I would put them dead centre in the middle of the case, coming out at a right angle. This means you can route the cable to come out the LH or RH side or the back - all you would need is to make come slots for the cables to run through.

Otherwise, the back/top edge is the best as the cables will generally run back behind the desk from there.

it also depends on how you like to position your tablet.  I would like the flat-style, maybe a little angle, but not much.

Holding the pen with most of the arm in the air might not be as fun (thinking about drawing near the edges in particular). Some people have built a table around it -- so the screen is flush with the table/desk.  so you would not want to have cables sticking out on the sides -- making a hole in a desk is already difficult enough, no need to complicate things with cables.

I personally have no problems drawing with most of my arm in the air. I use my UD-1212 on my lap mostly.
As of now, I'm leaning towards a build that I'd mainly use on the couch in front of the tv, or on a desk under an angle.
I had a lecture the other day from an architect who used a tablet-pc to draw stuff on his powerpoint presentation. Had the thing, about 12" size) on his lap, and the cables came out of the side. Having the pc on his other side, it was the most inconvenient layout possible, but it didn't seem to bother him.

Judging the stiffness om my vga cable, if I have the option, I'll try to let it come out of the back, pointing up, while leaving a slot or a hole to let it make a turn to the side or bottom. A full 180 costs about 12cm from the vga slot, so it shouldn't really make a difference whatever way it points out to.
Letting it come out perpendicular to the back wouldn't work for me, considering It wouldn't lay flat enough on the table.
