Sounds like they picked 6 bit color and you have an 8 bit color panel (or vice-versa)?
If you are getting another board, maybe buy the programmer as well, so you can try for yourself if NYJtouch screws up the programming.
I'd be getting the USB programmer for the new board as well. She couldn't provide an actual rom for mine, and suggested best bet is trying their until I find one that works.
We decided it was a 6/8bit issue. The controller does 1600x1200 8-bit, but a datasheet I found (http://www.datasheetarchive.com/datasheet.php?dir=Datasheet-024&file=DSA00420713.pdf&id=1&keywords=LTM15C162*
LTM15C162 - the closest I could find to my 166B) lists the LCD as 6 bit.
Anyway here is the results of the colour bars:http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/703/22112011749.jpg
(Full) red, green & blue seem to match, however the shades are all wrong, and for some reason white is yellow.
...It also seem to have a ghosting issue at 1600x1200 (but OK at 1280x1024).http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/812/22112011751.jpg
And I created that other thread about my other LCD (IDTech IAQ10S)
