I know what the problem is with this monitor: I've got one myself.
The board (made from BenQ) is not well designed: some transistors suffer much more than they should. The fault is well documented on the net, and you'll find some people selling repair kits. Mine has started its 3rd life recently !
I originaly bought it 15£, and added 30$ for a replacement board: that lasted 2/3 years. Earlier this year it died again and this time i only changed the 6 transistors (maybe 5 to 10$): since then, no problems.
But it's not a nice monitor anyway...
Thanks for the tip. I've seen a lot of replacement power supplies and repair kits on eBay for this monitor. I have no use for it to invest any money in, otherwise I'd fix it and use it. I figured someone on the forums might be able to salvage it for parts (backlight, LCD, etc.). For $5-10, though, I might get it running again, who knows.
For now, though, it's free (+ shipping).
Someone take it.
