Excellent news! I'm happy you got this sorted. It can be really disappointing when a project doesn't work quite right and makes you lose faith in the whole idea, but when you get it working well that's when you catch the bug! I wouldn't be surprised if you decided to pursue a follow up project or major rebuild within the year.

I can't stress enough that digital hdmi/dvi/dp is hugely superior to analog vga processing especially for this type of project, both in terms of picture clarity and in helping to reduce jitter; on account that vga require an analog to digital conversion to take place on the TCON (timing controller) of the lcd, a process which produces a lot of radio noise. Whilst there is some signal cleansing taking place on the digital lines, the noise generated is far less.
