The n50,  is very hard to strip especially if you have never stripped it before.  I stripped it, but I have done a few, it is very hard  if you do go there, I will help you

has anyone striped a hp vs17, i want one coz it th closest thing to 12 by 12 (17inch 5/4) tho i dont kno if the power suply is built in or not???i think i can see a brick in that wire

Packard Bell L15CX, also a slightly different version called CT500c.  They pop up on ebay fairly frequently.  Very easy to strip. No FFC issues, thus no need for extensions to be made.  Great for a first build.  Be careful though, don't break any of the ccfls.

cool, if u say its eazsy ill buy it, im going in to town to pretend that i intend to buy the monitor from the computer super store so that i can see the external power suply and they may ecen let me see if my wacom works ontop of the screen. im asuming the screen type is the same as the rest of the hp range, how do we know wether the monitor will give me the jiters or not?

i won the monitor Grin, the 92sqids guy droped out so th german bloke ofered it to me for 90 including postage. i gota drop all my creative projects to finish an essay in a couple days but hopefuly by th time i get the monitor ill have read enough build logs to start striping, the monitor that is.

Good stuff jono, nice to see you got it in the end. Now just dont break it!

Dont forget once you get the monitor you will need to order the FFC's and they will take a week or so to get to you so youve got loads of time to write that essay.

not breaking anything is defs the priority, closely folowed by not electricuting myself. theres something eiry about the build logs that end with broken stuff

is the Packard Bell L15CX monitors simula to my hp17fp? i just hope it has led's

You will need FFC extensions, that a fact, but are you saying you already have some?

Man thats so unfair, I had to get like 5 orders from DIYBeamer. I extended not only the L FFC but also the main ones as well. Oh well I still have the uber build:
