I always suspected that dodos weren't as peaceful and gentle as they say.  I wonder if there are any ninja dodos....

This is Captain Amy Darling, a character in a steampunk story I'm writing.

Yes she looks like Zoe Wanamaker, it's intentional. I find it much easier to write a character with a particular actor in mind.

She's not the heroine, but a major character. I'll be doing some more of these, I'm sure it'll help having them on the wall when I do the dialogue rewrites later.

That looks wonderful.  It also looked a bit Judi Dench to me.

Thanks folks, the funny thing about that.
When I've been writing the character she looks like Zoe Wanamaker, but insists on talking like Judi Dench at least sometimes.

The alpeh is part of a system of runes used in the story. It's also used in math theory as the cardinality of the set of all natural numbers. So that's kind of the smallest measurement of infinity.

I've also used it to represent a subversive organisation, the point through which all information flows. T haven't quite decided whether the alpeh badge is just for the organisation's number one, or the organisation as a whole.

Sweet.
Just so you know, hebrew letters have a whole mathmatical system called Gematria.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gematria

Decimal    Hebrew    Glyph
1    Aleph    א
2    Bet    ב
3    Gimel    ג
4    Daled    ד
5    He    ה
6    Waw    ו
7    Zayin    ז
8    Heth    ח
9    Teth    ט
10    Yodh    י
20    Kaph    כ, ך
30    Lamed    ל
40    Mem    מ, ם
50    Nun    נ, ן
60    Samekh    ס
70    Ayin    ע
80    Pe    פ, ף
90    Tsadi    צ, ץ
100    Qoph    ק
200    Resh    ר
300    Shin    ש
400    Taw    ת
500    Kaph    ך
600    Mem    ם
700    Nun    ן
800    Pe    ף
900    Tsadi    ץ

There you go, it would be pretty sweet to incorporate that.

You're going to have to wait for the rewrites though, no one sees the first draft.  Wink
