FishtiQ™

An ode to Bongofish, Satisfaction Guaranteed!*

Part 1

I have secured a Wacom UD-1212-R (12"x12" digitizer) from ebay for the knock down price of €60 (£40.71) including delivery, weeks of trawling have secured me this most integral component in the build.

The chap decided to only deliver to Ireland (where I live) so I was the only bidder, shame he had a reserve, but its still pretty cheap, add €9.49 (£6.44) for a serial to usb converter and we have the beginnings of a FishtiQ™.

Total Cost so far:

€69.49 (£47.15)

Next up in our thrilling tale of self build...

Our Ebay Lurker seeks out a 15" monitor (hopefully at a knock down price because it is haunted or something)

eh...

where do you plug the power in on these things?

It appears to have only the serial port and a power switch, yet I have received a third party power adaptor from the previous user.

FishtiQ™

An ode to Bongofish, Chock full of chocolate*

Part 2

I was thinking I should experiment a bit and get a 15.1" laptop LCD screen and see what voodoo I can conjour up instead of using a bog standard screen.  However it appears that it is an expensive route, so I strayed away from such lark.

I acquired a 15" NEC monitor with no stand for €57.57 (£39)

Noice

I stripped that bad boy down, to the wires (there sure is a lot of crap in monitors)

It has a really thick light diffuser panel at the back of matrix, (almost 10mm), I will have to examine the situation to see If I can keep this or have to thin it out a bit with some thinner acrylic.

Regardless, it needs a 0.5mm pitch 20 pin FCC for the matrix boards, €15 (£10.16) form DIY-Beamer.

Total Cost so far:

€142.06 (£96.23)

Same bat channel same bat time, but actually whenever I get said time...

At this point I really should get a camera in order to document his lark, but in the mean time, I will wax lyrical about the build.

Things to do: test the set up for flicker and accuracy.

*Actually A lie[/size][/i]
