These look like absolutely ideal pieces of kit, anyone know where to actually buy one ? (I'm still searching I'll post if I find any)

CRTtoLCD-5  VGA or DVI (both ports on the part) to LVDS board (stand alone for embeding, doesn't need PCI slot etc)

or even CRTtoLCD-7  same thing but also with Composite and S-VHS interfaces (no use for a diy-cintiq's main purpose though obviously, but somoene might find it useful)

or anyone know of a better solution to try drive a 1600x1200 laptop LCD? (I've seen this from Hong Kong that states it'll drive 1600x1200 on ebay, not sure I'd want to risk the money on it atm though)

oops. CRTtoLCD-5 takes INPUT up to UXGA (1600x1200) but only outputs up to SXGA.

ARG, time to hunt some more... any ideas?

You can also get micro ATX boards that drive LVDS directly.   Probably wouldn't get a very fast chip for one though.

As for LVDS boards, apart from ebay I've no idea.   Perhaps some of the DIY projector forums (like lumenlabs) might have some links.
