Ok so I figure I should start one of these also.

Just for the record, I am going to make a tablet mod out of a Pismo G3 laptop, and a wacom 12"x12" intuos 2 hopefully (prayers to the gods of ebay)

So I started the strip down of the Pismo, which is relatively easy following the various online guides there are.
this first shot is the first test of the principle, with the stripped down lcd used over the cased tablet, (actually an intuos3)
the second is of the headless pismo with the inverter board swapped round, the way its going to have to be modded to work.
the third is a shot of the pcb's and ffc connections on the back of the lcd,
and the fourth is all the stuff that got taken out of the pismo for this mod.

Initial test went reasonably ok, there was displacement, and some weird button click behaviour, but I think thats down to interferance of the intervening pcbs on the lcd display, as well as some shielding that needs doing.

Nice one, and welcome to the forum.

We've had odd clicking before, related to the jitter problem, so maybe the same countermeasures will be effective.

Thanks, yeah I'm thinking its a shielding issue. That might be resolvable with insulation. Got to wait for the intuos 2 though to test that as they seem to be a bit different.

see the silicon on the back of the lcd,  thats likely to blog the signal from the pen, the monitor i used had the same thing, any idea how you'll get around that?

do you mean the circuitboards?

if you do, I plan to either fold them out into the horizontal plane and extend the ffc connection between them, or sandwich them below the wacom sensor.

Yeah thats partly why Im doing it with the pismo model, as they are quite cheap second hand now, I already have a second case for parts coming and an auction for a third underway.

wacom tablet that has just been won, although just as I won it a postal strike happened, so this is the image from ebay. I will take pictures of the actual thing when it comes.

slightly closer view of the logic board ->inverter board cable. I think this is the one that I am going to have to extend.
