IBM make good kit, so quality wise it should be OK.  You might even be able to mount the finished item on the stand for extra tiltyness.   Other than that unless someone has take an IBM thing apart there's no way of knowing.

(i've already ordered like 50 bux worth of brass steampunk stuff off ebay for the case muahaha)

I got this really kool antique thermometer, it looks like a galvanometer but its a thermometer and its working so i was so stoke cuz i cud like have it as a temperature keeper tracker of in the cintiq, and i also won this brass pen holder, so all i needa do now is tear apart my spare stylus n see whats in it, stick whats in it in a nicely weighted metal pen, preferably bronze colored ofcourse, and all the accesories are set.

omfg i'm so excited!

metal pen might block the signal.  but something that looks like wood or tortoishell perhaps?
